What to Wear

Think timeless, neutral colors: whites, browns, tans, blacks, and grays. Pair a neutral shirt with a nice pair of jeans or khakis. With these portraits, we want the focus to be on your child's beautiful features, not necessarily their outfit.

Coordination

For sibling shots, it is up to you if you would like them to be matching (all in the same color) or coordinating. If you would like to work in a pattern, I suggest one pattern to every two to three solids. Find the colors in the patterned shirt and coordinate those same colors in the solid shirts.

Shoes

One major perk of these sessions is you do not need to worry about shoes! Of course, I can make an exception if you would really like your child to wear shoes. All I ask is that they are cleaned before the shoot to protect my backdrop.

Details

A couple things you may not have thought of:

  • If your child would like their nails or toenails painted, it is best to have these freshly done. No chipped nails please :)
  • Stay away from large logos on clothing.
  • Because my camera picks up the tiniest of details, it is best to choose pants that are not worn down in the knees.

Accessories

These portrait sessions are meant to be classic and timeless, but every once in a while it can be cute to throw in a prop or two. The key is to keep it simple: a beanie, a child's lovely, or a cute pair of sunglasses can add in a fun factor to your overall gallery.
